2024 Flu Vaccination

Annual vaccination is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. It is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over.

Public Vaccines

Funded by the Federal Government under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), public flu vaccines are provided free of charge under the NIP for:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals aged 6 months and over
  • Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
  • Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
  • Individuals aged 65 years or older
  • Individuals aged 6 months or older with certain medical conditions, including cardiac disease, chronic respiratory conditions, immunocompromising conditions, haematological disorders, chronic metabolic disorder, chronic kidney disease, chronic neurological conditions, and long-term aspirin therapy in children aged 5 to 10 years.

2024 Free Flu Vaccination Program for Private Flu Vaccines

All Queenslanders over 6 months old who are not eligible for the public vaccines listed above under the NIP will be able to access free vaccines funded by the Queensland State Government. This program underscores the government’s commitment to public health, aiming to protect the community from the serious consequences of influenza. Take advantage of this opportunity, as the program is now in effect and will run until September 30, 2024. Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated today.
